I'll do my best to bring this up to date, but truth be told, interest has been waning lately as you might have guess. I did keep some notes on scrap paper, but accuracy cannot be guaranteed. It would be understated for sure, not overstated. Since my last entry not a lot has happened, Still working on my bathroom remodel, still working way too many hours. Been to Cape Cod numerous times, Plymouth a few times, not as many times as I would have like to because time is still at a premium. Blah Blah Woof Woof (JH)
Lets just get started with the update.
When I last left you in May, (whew) I was off to a good start, thinking the economy was turning around and everything. It sputtered out just like the economy and this blog. I only mange to gather another .94 cents in change and $2.75 in cans. The month end wrap up is as follows:

Absolutely nothing happened in June that I recall, including not adding much to the RDF.

July was a good month for me, a so-so month for the RDF. We started the month off by spending the July 4th weekend on Cape Cod, actually we spent a good portion of it on a boat in Lewis Bay, including for the fireworks display on the night of the 4th.

Later in the month, we had a week off for vacation. We spent the first part of the week at our friend's house in Plymouth, we had a great time. As promised back in May, here is a picture of the view from their deck and the second one is from their upper deck off the master bedroom.

We finished off the week in Cape Cod and then back to the grind. During the month of July I collected $3.60 in change and $.75 in cans. The above change included a $1.00 bill found at Stop & Rob. So here are the totals.

August is really in the crapper so far. It seems everybody remembers to check the coin return slot on the Coinstar now, slim pickens there. Not much going on at work either, and Bella has been getting skunked at the park now. The funds are pitiful for the month. On a bright note, during my hiatus these past months, I managed to go the redemption center 3 times for a total of $58.90 which as always is thrown into the RDF.

Silver - The Sequel

Howdy Ho!

I keep meaning to update more often but so much going on right now, (remodeling my bathroom, yard work, work-work, etc,etc), time is at a premium these days. We've only made it to our friend's new house in Plymouth once so far and that was not an overnighter. Beautiful house with a really fantastic view which I'll share with you in a future blog. As for the RDF, April was an OK month, The streak of a find every day ended on the 17th and 18th. Those are actually the only two days I didn't have any finds. As I recall, it was a rainy weekend and I didn't get out of the house, just worked on the bathroom. As for the title of the blog, Yes the coinstar gave up another silver dime, this time a 44 merc.

April's final totals would not have been so good if wasn't for a $10.00 "go get yourself a beer" customer I had on the 29th. I also made it to the redemption center twice for $15.05 and $7.70 respectively. So April's final numbers look like this:

Bye Bye Berkshires!

I have allot to talk about so let's gets started.......
The flooding here in the northeast has been severe, historic flooding according to most reports, I however live on a hill and have persevered. (The Fool On the Hill)
Some of my neighbors were not so fortunate.....

As far As the Rainy Day Fund goes, it also was a historic month. I had a find of no less than .05 cents on every single day, yes that's right, a find every single day! I also made it to the redemption center one time during March for a total of $16.25 in returns, that as always was/is added to the till. So here are the totals...

March Final Total: $20.29 (Sure makes up for the first two months of the year) :)

April started with us spending a long weekend out in the Berkshires. If you been following this blog, right from the very beginning I have made mention of spending many weekends out in the Berkshires. Anywayz, we always spent it at our best friends house who always had a spare guest room for us. Well as it turns out, our friends have sold their house out west as of this week and have move closer to us in another one of our favorite hangouts. Welcome to Plymouth, Ma. Again, they have a spare guest room for us. Great Friends! I will however miss the beauty and peacefulness of the majestic mountains of the Berkshires.

While out there I had to make one more trip to a place right down the street from their house where we would just relax, drink beer, and swim in the cleanest and coldest water around during some of the hot summer days that we spent out there. The Granville Gorge.

Bye Bye Berkshires, Hello Plymouth.

We now return to the RDF. The streak of a find every day so far continues. Seven days in and so far a hit every day. I also scored a 1968 Canadian dime from the coinstar which is 50% silver. Here's where the RDF stands so far for the month of April.

Another month in the books and another low total. I can't wait for the return of Spring and warm weather, and increased revenue hopefully. This month was not my worse, (see last month), but still was disappointing with the exception of a 1960 Silver dime plucked from the coinstar. Bella and I also managed to find a 1956 wheat penny down the park and that is pretty much the highlights of this past month. I also made my usual two trips to the redemption center this month for $13.00 and $11.10 respectively. Not much more to say except CYA.

January has thankfully come to an end. After hunting at all the usual locations multiple times throughout the month I did manage to recover slightly from the disastrous beginning but not enough to spare me from my lowest revenue making month ever. My lowest month to this point was July 09 at $4.55, I didn't quite get there this month. I pulled in another $1.40 in cans & bottles, with the majority of those coming from work. I also went to the redemption center twice this month for $16.50 and $15.15 respectively. As far as the change goes, I rounded up $2.22 from work, Stop N Rob, and the Coinstar. That's it in a nutshell, So lets Wrap it Up!

Baby It's Cold Outside!

Welcome to the Winter of 2010 and another new year of the Rainy Day Fund. Brrrrr - Baby It's Cold Outside in more ways than just the temperature. I am off to probably one slowest starts ever for a month as far as finding monies for the RDF. I guess I could blame the frigid temps, the snow and ice, but I think it also has to do with economy as well, Just not as much disposable income, so every penny counts these days. So far I collected 14 cans & bottles for a total of .70 cents and only 3 pennies and a dime for change. Yikes! Hopefully things turn around pretty quickly.

Here's an interesting update for those of you who follow this blog. I showed you a picture of a headstone back on August 23rd 2009 that had a curse inscribed on it for all eternity. I asked the question at the time what would make a person so angry as to do this, Well thanks to a Michael Volpe, I now know why. If your interested, please take the time to read Michael's comment about the story of Mary Dolencie. ~RIP~

Sorry about not updating in so long, I really meant too, repeatedly.....
A lot of ground to cover, I did keep notes so it is pretty accurate to a point, the last couple weeks I have been slipping on that as well, so if anything, the amounts will be understated.
First up, the month of November.

These turkeys managed to escape the dinner table!

The month of November would have been a disastrous month had not been for one fantastic find down the park while walking Bella on one fine Saturday morning. Folded on the ground was a Twenty Dollar bill. ChaChing! I also went to the redemption center twice for S12.30 and 10.55 respectiveley. Not much more stands out for the month as I recall, So here's the wrap up.

November Final Totals: $ 24.58

December started slowly but we got couple nice trips in, One weekend we headed out to the Berkshires, took off and went up to The Vermont Country Store in Rockingham, VT. and then drove down to Simsbury, Connecticut for great Chineese food at The Green Tea and then back to the Berkshires, all in one day/night.

The weekend before Christmas found us out in the Berkshires again for a last minute Wedding with only four days notice. Although Put together very quickly, it was a Incredible day.

Then the snow hit.

By Christmas the snow was gone and off to Old Cape Cod to spend the day with family. This past Sunday was spent at Gillette Stadium watching the Patriots clinch the AFC east title. (Shout out to the Randy Moss mask dude!)

Happy Halloween everyone, I was feeling a little more festive than usual this year so I did something I have not done in years, Carved a pumpkin. The results are above. Only took me 3-4 hours the other night. (Now I remember why I don't do that every year);)

Well the Trick or Treaters have died down, so I figured I'd end the month proper before I go and watch some Horror flicks. Since I last left you I scared up another .46 cents in change and a $1.05 in cans & bottles. I also cashed in the cans & bottles today for a killer amount of $21.85 for the RDF. That puts an end to the month of October. Until next time.....

Wow, it has been a long time gone. I have no excuses for my absence. Since my last post I've been to the Berkshires, Spent a week on olde Cape Cod, went to a Patriots game, but I did not make it to the bank yet to turn all this found money into large bills as I previously said I was going to do, (oh well, I'll get there eventually). I have kept notes of my finds, on an envelope of all things, so I'll try and decipher that and bring the RDF up to date.

First the month of September.

September 7th was the Rainy Day Fund's 1st anniversary. and I had picked up $5.13 in change and .25 cents in cans by that date making my One year total $167.15...

(and the crowd goes wild). I don't think that is a bad amount, not as good as some other blogs but not too shabby either. I can live with it.

For the rest of September I managed only another .92 cents and $1.15 in cans & bottles. I also cashed in my cans & bottles for a total $14.30 to add to the kitty. A couple of other significant finds was a 14k gold ring with diamond chips and a Canadian 50% silver dime (1968) from my old friend the Coinstar. That wraps up the month of September.

The month of October had a first since the launch of the RDF, I found a dollar bill at Cumbys, Yes folks, that is the first time in a year+ that I actually found paper money. it's always been change unless it was one of those keep the change scenario's from work. As far as change goes, I have gathered $3.52 thus far and $1.85 in cans & bottles. I also cashed them in again this month for another $13.80... And believe it or not, the Coinstar kindly gave me another Canadian 50% silver dime again, (1968 again) as well as a couple of wheaties, tokens and assorted foreign coins... That brings us up to date, I'll try and update more frequently but no promises.

Just A quick post to close out the month of August. Since I last posted I collected .87 cents in change and a whopping $3.05 in cans & bottles to end August. I also did make it to the redemption center for another $13.65 added to the kitty. As I said in the previous post, this blogs one year anniversary is fast approaching and I will be on Vacation again at the same time. Well it's been awhile since my last update, I'll do my best to bring this blog up to date. First let's close out the month of July. According to my notes, I got a measly .12 cents in change and .70 cents in cans and bottles to finish off July. That would make July my lowest revenue making month thus far. (I'll never become a millionaire at that rate) ;)

For the month of August I have rebounded nicely from the dol-drums of July though. I lost track of the amount of cans & bottles I collected so far but I am guessing about $2.00 worth. (probably more). As far as the cash goes - well that I have been keeping track of and thanks to a couple of generous customers this month, I have $12.89 in change for the month of August so far. I also cashed in the cans and bottles for another $17.25 two weeks ago which means I am about due to go to the redemption center again. I started this Blog on 9/7/08 which means my one year anniversary is fast approaching and with that I have to make a trip to the bank and cash in all these coins and dollar bills and other monies I collected and see what the real total of the RDF is. I am going to sign off this entry with a interesting photo I took of a headstone inscription at the Ancient Cemetery located on old Cape Cod.

May Eternal Damnation be upon those in Whaling Port who without knowing me

Under The Boardwalk

Well, our time on the Cape was nice, (too short) and we came home just in time for a another rainstorm. I have a couple of pictures to share with you from old Cape Cod. The boardwalk pictured here is 1/4 mile long and attracts allot of people. It looks west (obviously, as the sun sets in the west) towards Plymouth, Ma., home of the pilgrims. Speaking of Plymouth the weather is great today and we are going to go to America's hometown. We like to go there at least once a year and today's the day. (Sam Diego's, here we come, frozen margaritas and home made chips and salsa.) As far as the RDF goes, the slow month marches on. All I managed was another .59 cents in change and .60 in cans & bottles since my last post. Until next time, CYA.....

I am officially on vacation as of yesterday afternoon and I'm just relaxing here sipping on my second Spicy Bloody Mary. A great morning beverage! Tomorrow it's off to Old Cape Cod for a few days, hopefully the hot, sticky weather we're are having right now stays for awhile as I enjoy swimming in the ocean. As far as the RDF goes, WoW it's been a slow month.... All I have is another $1.00 in change and .85 cents in cans & bottles to add to the monthly totals. This is shaping up to be my worst month yet. The Sun Sets on Another Month.

Well May 2009 is now in the books. It wasn't a bad month, not my best, but definitely not my worst. Before I wrap it up, I just want to mention I had a great time last weekend in the Berkshire's. Great friends, great food and "ahem" great drinks, what more could you ask for? We even managed to go hiking Sunday. I'll share these couple pics with you from the weekend.

OK, between Work, Stop N Rob, and Bella's walks down the park, I managed to come up with .78 cents in change and $2.05 in cans & bottles. The coinstar contributed some coins to the above total as well as a Canadian quarter, an English penny, a "Big Y" silver express rewards coin, and two Wheaties, 1941 and 1936 respectively.

I cashed in the cans & bottles this weekend for a grand total of $15.80, that will be added to the kitty as well. Oh, and the MP3 player is still acting up so I am going shelve it for a while. Sorry, didn't mean to have it on auto play.

I also scored some type of silver religious medallion and a Haitian one gourde from my old friend the coinstar. Throw in a $1.30 in cans & bottles picked up along the way brings us up to date. Time Marches On

And so it goes, another week or two has gone by, well maybe three. Lets wrap up April first, shall we. I added $1.48 in change and .85 cents in cans to bring the month of April to a close. They came from the usual Hunting grounds. I also picked up some mutilated coins (pictured, parental discretion is advised), they are not counted in the totals as I will probably never get to cash those in. Here's the April wrap up......

The month of May started off extreMely slow but thanks to one generous customer, it has reboundeD nicely. I believe for the first few days of May I had roughly about .14 cents in change and .15 cents in cans, but last week I had a $10.43 "keep the change" guy. Throw in another .58 cents in change and another .85 cents in cans and that brings us up to date. Bella has yet to get skunked when I take her for her walks, (now that I mentioned it, she probably will!), we have always found something, whether it be a can or a penny, or a silver earring, or Nikon Coolpix digital camera. Yes she has found all the above since we last blogged! I also cashed the cans and bottles in this past weekend for a total of $15.70. A New Look - S.O.S.

As you can tell I changed templates for better or worse, I tend to experiment, it's in my nature. I also updated the MP3 player, not sure I like this one yet. It could change relatively quickly. It does have a new song featured as well , Ever since I blogged about the song "You got the Silver", it's been playing in my head, funny how songs tend to do that. So let Keith serenade you with a nice little ballad.

It's been a really good week for me as far as the RDF goes, First I scored .85 cents from the vending machine at work Monday, followed by .63 cents from Stop N Rob. The coinstar also gave up a Canadian nickel, a 1937 wheat penny and some kind of car dealership token. Tuesday I had a .60 cent "keep the change guy" and then a .45 cent one an hour later. It's been quite the dry spell as far as that goes. Wednesday I found a penny in the parking lot followed by another nickel from the vending machine later in the day. To round out the week I collected 9 cans at work and 2 cans down the park today on Bella's walk. Yes, the ailing economy had me out of work again today. (When I heard it was going to be in the 70's, I volunteered) ;) That's it from this end of the world, until next time. CYAAAA

Ain't No Fun (Waiting 'Round to be a Millionaire)

When we last left you, April was off to a rather slow start, not much has changed. I'm going to use that as an excuse for the lack of updates. Heh!

I did manage to pick up $1.57 in change between all of my usual hunting grounds, Stop N Rob, Coinstar, Shaw's, work, and Bella's walks in the park, etc. That is broken down into 2 quarters, 6 dimes, 1 nickel, and 42 pennies. The bottles and cans collected for the last 2 weeks amounted to $1.45 which prompted me to cash them in today for a total of $16.50 added to the RDF. Also Keith Richards sang, "You got the Silver, You got the Gold", well he was right, last time I blogged I mentioned I had gotten a Canadian dime from the coinstar, What I didn't notice was that it was a 1968 dime which makes it 50% Silver. Yesterday, in the park, I think it was the 18Th of April, (sorry, little Chicago reference there), Bella and I found a 14k Gold earring. Someday, I might actually cash in all the Silver & Gold I have collected over the years.

Find the Money Girl

Saturday was an overcast, cold and dreary day with the occasional drizzle. Not much going on so it was a good day to watch some TV and take a nap on the couch which is exactly what I did. However I did manage to get one walk in with Bella and we found a total of 4 bottles and cans down the park. Today was a much nicer day and Bella and I went down the park again. Lately when we enter the park I have been saying to Bella, "Find the money girl". She looks up at me with those big black eyes as to say, "What the *%$# are you talking about?" "I'm here to smell where all the other dogs have done there business and do my business on top of it, You find the money fool." Funny thing is, she usually does lead me to the money, today was no exception . Check out the two pictures from today's jaunt down the park. We found .23 cents and 2 soda bottles. Later this afternoon on my weekly trip to Stop N Rob, I picked up a car wash token, a Canadian dime and penny and one memorial penny at the coinstar. I intended on writing this post last Tuesday night but it has been a busy week at work and I just didn't have the time. Last Sunday I found my silver friend George here at the Stop N Rob coinstar. I also picked up 2 cents at the check out line on the way out. Monday and Tuesday, I collected 4 cans at work to end the month of March with my highest monthly total thus far.

A Tale Of Two Weeks

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, and so goes the last 2 weeks of the Rainy Day Fund.

Week One started off on the right foot with Monday scoring 1 can at work and 1 penny at the Stop N Rob in the evening. By the time Friday came around that week I had collected another 7 cans but the big deposit came near the end of that work day. I had a customer who was running very late but needed our product for a weekend job. I stayed an hour past closing to accommodate him and was rewarded with a $25.00 tip. I tried to decline it as I was on the clock anyway but he insisted, so "ChaChing", that puts RDF over the $100 mark for the first time since the blog's inception last September. Add 1 more can to mix as well. Last Saturday saw Bella and I score .11 cents and a laser tag game token during our walk down at the park. Later in the day while doing some shopping at Stop N Rob I picked up .12 cents at the register and 1 really beat up penny in the parking lot to finish the week off.

Week Two started off on the left foot with the cold and cloudy weather returning to the area causing me to not even get out of the house on Sunday which means that nada was contributed to the fund. The cold weather continued through the early part of the week and so did the drought, by the time Wednesday night came rolling around I had only collected a meager 2 cans. Thursday saw a ray of sunshine though as I found 2 dimes at the vending machine and Friday morning I found a penny in the parking lot on the way into work but that turned out to be a Canadian. Today was bit better as I managed to find .03 cents and a soda bottle down the park while taking Bella for her walk. I cashed in the cans & bottles today and received $12.80 plus a penny at the register as I was cashing out. Later I found a dime at a nursery while cashing out which brings this week to an end. Well another week comes and goes and this one held a couple of significant finds. Lets get started. First I collected 8 cans during the work week which was only 4 days long this week as I had Friday off due to the ailing economy. We alternate employees taking a day off without pay unless you want to burn a vacation day, it was my turn Friday and that was quite alright with me. Monday night I stop at Shaw's and found .38 cents. A quick jaunt to Stop N Rob scored a penny and a Chuck E Cheese token in the reject bin of the coinstar. A return trip to Stop N Rob Wednesday night scored .27 cents and a Canadian nickel from the coinstar reject bin. Thursday I got a penny at work. Friday was a sunny but cool day, good enough to take Bella for a walk down to the park where we found 2 bottles and .03 cents. Saturday was even better weather-wise and of course Bella was ready for her walk, we found 3 bottles, another .03 cents and the best find yet, a 1892 Indian head cent. It seems a hill at the park is eroding away from the rain constantly washing down this one area and it uncovered this old penny. Thank you Bella for choosing that area to do your business at. Later that day, I found 1 penny at the packy, 1 penny at BJ's wholesale club, and at the Stop N Rob coinstar I got 1 penny, 1 1940 wheatie, 1 Garden State Parkway token, 1 game token, 1 wooden token worth some free daffodil bulbs at a local nursery and 2 Canadian quarters. Another spring-like day and another day Bella got a nice long walk down the park. Today we found two more soda bottles and 2 dimes to go along with it. Another week goes by - not much to report. I collected 9 cans at work this week, I got a .69 cent "keep the change" guy this week, and I found a penny at work. I also found a penny at the packy Monday night. Spring-like weather arrived Saturday and Bella was anxious to get her walk in. We found two soda bottles down at the park. I also cashed in the cans & bottles for a total of $18.55 in receipts which will go right in the fund. That's it for now.

A couple of footnotes to mention. The profile picture is of a wanderer that was known as the Leatherman. To learn more about this man and his travels, I recommend watching this documentary. The Road Between Heaven and Hell - Part 1 , Part 2 and finally Part 3. And if that's not enough you can listen to one of my favorite bands perform a song about him entitled Leatherman.

Another week goes by and another month comes to a close... I picked up a total of 8 cans at work this week. Thursday night I made a quick stop at Stop N Rob and of course I checked the coinstar out and found .37 cents, a 1941 wheatie, a Canadian nickel and a 2 cent euro from Portugal. Today, needing a lot of luck to keep this from being my lowest month ever I figured I keep my eyes peeled to the ground and hope for the best.

We now return to your regularly scheduled blog....... Wow time flies by again. Lots to cover, hopefully I can remember everything. We last left you and I was enjoying the nice weather and taking the dog for a walk. We found a beer bottle and then I cashed in the cans and bottles for a total of $8.75 in receipts. Last week's work week was going by extremely slow with only a total of 3 cans all week. I did however have a .07 "keep the change" guy on Wednesday. Saturday, (Valentines day) came with nice weather again and Bella got to go for another walk. We found 1 soda bottle and 2 pennies down the park as the snow is mostly fading away now. Then it was off to do some shopping and a quarter was found at BJ's wholesale club, .03 cents at the Stop N Rob, including a 1946 silver dime at the coinstar again. (I don't count silver coins in the Fund.) One last stop at the packy produced one more penny for the day. Sunday arrived and another fairly nice day weather wise, Bella got to go down the park again and this time we scored 17 beers cans already bagged and ready to go. One quick stop at Stop N Rob again in the afternoon produced 2 more pennies and Sunday comes to a close. Monday at work started off much better than last week, 3 cans and 2 pennies were found. I did get out yesterday and I did find some change but I was unable to blog about it last night because I was stung by a scorpion. (I.E., four scorpion bowls at our favorite Chinese Restaurant)

If I did blog about it last night I probably would have made even less sense than usual but today everything is fine so here we go. The first penny was found at Shaws by the register, the next three were found at the coinstar at Stop N Rob, one was Canadian though and I don't count foreign coins in the fund. I did find one more penny though in the juice aisle of all places. Later in the day I stopped in at Newbury Comics and found .12 on the floor, a dime and 2 pennies. A quick trip to Walmart produce a soda bottle right next to my car and I finally checked out the "Going out of Business" sale happening at Circuit City. Allot of stuff is marked down 30% now but the prices can still be beat at other stores. (I would say that pretty much sums up why they are going out of business) Anywayz, I found a very seasoned penny right next to my car to end the day. Today however is a new day and the weather is great for early February. I think I will cash in the cans and bottles today and take Bella for a walk. Talk to you later....

Wow, how time flies by. It's been awhile since my last update. Lots of ground to cover so lets get started. Over the last 2 weeks I collected another 11 cans, all from work as we have roughly about a foot of snow on the ground and with these cold temps, it's here to stay until Spring unless we get a thaw with some rain. As far as change goes, I found .51 in various places and I got a .01 "keep the change" guy, (it's been quite a while since one of those). Some of the places that the change was found at include .26 at Newbury Comics, .02 at Shaws, and yesterday I scored .03 cents at the Stop N Rob coinstar plus .56 in Canadian and a 1941 wheaty and the best find , a 1940 Mercury dime. I love finding silver at the coinstar. That brings us up to date as far as the fund goes.

I have been found out!!! I didn't think I had much, if any readership, which is ok. I always just considered this blog a tool for recording my finds. Well it seems a link to this blog is on another blog that gets lots of attention. (The New York City Changepot) So we will see what that brings.

The second snowfall in as many days came as expected and made for a nice day. Did manage to get out for a little bit today, first I found 2 pennies at Cumberland Farms, (aka Cumby's) while getting the Sunday paper. Next we did some more Xmas shopping and I found 2 more pennies at Kmart. Finally we did a little bit of food shopping at Stop N Rob, and of course I checked the coinstar, only .16 today. It's been awhile!!!

I'm sorry, I haven't updated in almost two weeks. I've just been very busy and too tired to blog lately. Let's pick up where I left off and I'll do my best to remember my finds.. I finished off that last work week I reported on with only 2 more cans. I don't recall the days just the total for a very dismal week. Bella and I did go for a walk last Saturday the 13Th but found nothing. Not too many people down the park these days. We went Christmas Shopping that day as well but again found nothing. Last Sunday however I struck it big at the coinstar again while at Stop N Rob, Somebody left $2.95 in the return slot again. No silver this time. I Also found .15 at register while checking out, a dime and a nickel. Monday at work I managed to get 5 cans on the way out and Tuesday I only got 1 can. Wednesday I had a .02 "keep the Change " and found 2 cans. Thursday and Friday produced 2 more cans and the work week was complete. Friday afternoon it started snowing and it didn't quit until Saturday, our first significant snowfall for the season. After shoveling the driveways, we did a little more Christmas shopping and we are still not done yet. I did manage to find 1 penny at the mall. I don't know if we will get out today as we are supposed get another storm today plus my Patriots are fighting for their playoff lives today against Arizona in the snow,sleet and freezing rain if the forecast is accurate.

A Long Time - A lot to cover.

1st: Last Sunday and also the last day of November went as follows, took Bella for a walk in the morning and manage to get 2 bottles. Packed the car and grabbed some friends for a tailgate party at Gillette stadium, found 1 penny in my friends driveway while packing the car. The Patriots got their ass kicked in the second half, it was wet and cold but an awesome time still the same. That brings November totals to and end. My best month so far.

The Work week and December begin slow. 1 can on Monday and 1 penny at Stop N Rob Monday night. I grab 3 cans on Tuesday and Wednesday was another 1 can day but I did managed to find 2 pennies at Stop N Rob again. I got nothing at all on Thursday and Friday. Saturday was one for the books though. Taking Bella for her walk, we manage to find 4 pennies down the park, Did a little Xmas shopping and found 1 penny at Kohl's dept store. Went to Stop N Rob for the weekly groceries and while there I checked the coinstar. ChaChing!!!! Somebody left $4.13 in the coin return slot plus 2 1941 wheaties and a 1964 silver dime. Another .32 cents in Canadian change plus an Argentina 50 centavos. That is the best hit I ever got from a coinstar. I found another penny checking out at the register. The day was not over yet though, We forgot EVOO for dinner so I had to run back to Stop N Rob, What the hell, check the coinstar again and I find a gold earring this time, 2 more pennies at the checkout brings a pretty good day to a close. Today it snowed and we stayed in and decorated the Xmas tree and watched football. The Patriots win a close one and keep their playoff hopes alive. That Brings us up to date. Until next Time CYA.

OK, Thanksgiving on the Cape was nice. Good food and good company. We spent the night and Friday we went to the Christmas tree shops in Hyannis. I found 1 lone penny there and shortly after we came home. Saturday came and the weather was pretty nice so I took Bella for a walk in the morning. We found found 1 penny and 9 bottles down the park. All these bottles means it was time to hit the redemption centers today. After cashing out, $24.10 going in the kitty today, not bad. I also found 4 pennies at the packy and 2 pennies at Stop N Rob. Nothing at the Coinstar again. I think I got competition on that one. That brings the day to an end. Tomorrow I am going to Gillette stadium to see the Pats take on the Pittsburgh Steelers. Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!!

A lot of ground to cover here so let's get started. I did not venture out at all last weekend as I came home from work last Friday feeling a bit under the weather, I dosed myself on NyQuil and Vitamin C and spent the weekend indoors. I'm a strong believer that Vitamin C builds up your immune system and shortens the length of your illness. It worked, By the time Monday and work came around again, I was fine. The end results were nothing to add to the fund.... Monday at work produced 2 cans on the way out. Tuesday was a very good day at work, first I got a $1.41 "keep the change" dude, then shortly after I got a $10.00 tip from another customer whom I struck up a conversation with and helped out with his order. Only one can on Tuesday. On Wednesday I found a penny on the office floor and I got 3 cans on the way out. Today we are heading to Cape Cod to be with family for the Holiday and good food. A few days to report on here so lets get started. After my last report the work week went kind of slow, a total of 5 cans collected and .02 cents was found. Both pennies were found on the same day at work, one on the coffee truck and one on the UPS desk. Saturday I went metal detecting and I picked up 12 cans. Later that day I took Bella for a walk down the park and picked up 2 more cans and 2 pennies. Went to Stop N Rob with the wife shopping and I checked out the coinstar while I was there, nothing to add to the RDF, but I did get 2 Canadian pennies and a $20 Mexican pesos coin. After getting a bite to eat and a few suds, we stopped at the packy to get beer and .13 cents was found on the floor by the register, 1 dime and 3 pennies. Today while down the park again with Bella, we pick up another 3 cans. Well that pretty much wraps up the weekend, until next time CYA.

A busy Day.... I called in sick today, a case of blue flu I guess, anywayz, I took Bella for a walk this morning and apparently somebody had a drinking party down the park last night. I picked up $1.05 in cans and bottles, majority of them being beer cans. I also managed to find a dime at the skateboard park. Hell, that many cans & bottles I decided to cash them in today. Picked up another can in the return chute at the redemption center. Found a penny on the way out from redeeming my slips. It was then off to Stop N Rob to redeem the bottles the packy won't take and again found a bottle in the trash there that was redeemable. So ends another day. I finally cashed all the cans and bottles in that I have been accumulating since the last time I went to the redemption center. Grand total was $24.85, that will be added to the Rainy Day Fund coffers but as I said in a previous post, it's not counted here. This is only for the freebies I pick up along the way. Speaking of that, as I was cashing in my redemption slips at the packy I found .12 cents, 2 pennies and a dime on the floor at the register. Shortly after I went to Stop N Rob to cash in about a dollars worth of bottles that the packy won't take and found 2 cans, 1 in the parking lot on the way in and 1 in the trash at the redemption center. The Stop N Rob redemption center took them both, easy .10 cents. While I was there I had to check the coinstar again even though I was just there the night before, but surprisingly there was 2 pennies available for the taking. That's pretty much it for today. Went to rent a couple of movies from the Red Box and swung by the coinstar on the way in, manage to find one lone penny that had spilt out on to the floor. Weekend Wrap Up and more! Ok, lets start with last Friday, one can from work, it might have been more but I can't remember. It was definitely at least one. Friday night we took off for the Berkshires and spent the weekend with good friends drinking, eating, leaf peeping and some other corrupt activities. Saturday found us enjoying a trip to Deerfield and a stop at Yankee Candle where I manage to find 1 penny by the penny squisher. Our return trip back included a stop at the packy for supplies for the Red Sox game that night and another penny was located there. Sunday came and we went deeper into the mountains for more leaf peeping. We stopped at a country store along the way and I picked up another penny. Later that day back at our friends house, I took Bella for a walk and picked up a soda can. I tossed it in my car on the way back. Sunday night, homeward bound and watched the Red Sox call it a season. Too bad! Monday back to work blues and I found 2 pennies in a lift and 2 cans on the way out. I found .14 cents today, 1 penny this morning on the floor boards of a box truck at work and 1 dime and 3 pennies in the parking lot. Add 2 cans to that and that completes the day. One more day of work and it's off to Berkshires this weekend to take in the Fall foliage. CYA

A lot to get to so here goes, I picked up one can Friday at work to end the work week. I picked up one can at the park while taking Bella for her walk Saturday. Went metal detecting early Sunday morning and while out there I picked up 3 more cans. Came home and went to Stop N Rob and I picked up .50 cents in Canadian coins, two 5 pence coins from England?( not sure what country their from), one 1941 wheat penny and .o4 cents all from the coinstar machine. I will only be counting the .04 cents for the Rainy Day Fund. Took Bella for her walk today and found .02 cents down the park. Went to the packy today as they were having a Beer tasting and found .02 cents on the way out. So I'll wrap this all up as my Patriots are on in 10 minutes. Another good day at work after absolutely nothing yesterday. First I found a quarter in the change return slot of the vending machine, then I got a .56 cent keep the change guy, followed by a .01 cent keep the change guy. Weekend Wrap Up! - Saturday I took Bella down the park for her walk and we found a dime on the basketball court. Later in the day I picked up 1 can while I was out metal detecting. Today I went metal detecting at the park I took Bella to and I picked up 4 cans. My metal detecting totals I do not count here, (except for the cans I pick up), my metal detecting finds are kept as a separate fund altogether. Well my first month (September) wasn't too bad with a total of $15.17 added to the Rainy Day Fund, and October is off to a really good start as well. Yesterday I found 1 penny in the parking lot on my way into work and I managed to scoop two cans on the way out. Today at work I got $1.93 "keep the change" scenario again, 1 quarter in the vending machine return slot, and another two cans on the way out. I stopped at Newbury Comics on the way home to pick up a CD I ordered and found a dime on the floor. Good Day! So here's the totals for today and for October so far. I have decided to keep a running total for the current month on my postings and you can see a grand total on the text gadget to the right.

I found 3 pennies today at Stop N Rob, 2 at the coinstar, (1 of them is Canadian, so it won't be counted in the totals) and 1 penny at the register. I also cashed in the cans and bottles today, $18.25 but that's not going to be added in these totals either, I only count the cans/bottles I pick up along the way, not the ones I purchase. Went to Cape Cod for the weekend , just got back, nothing to report for the weekend but I forgot to do my Friday the 19th update before I left. I manage to get .11 cents Friday at work. It's been a few days since I last updated so here it goes. I went out to the Big E as planned but did not clean up on the loot. I found 1 penny at the petting zoo Saturday. period. It was however a great weekend. On the way home Sunday night, I picked up one more penny at a Sunoco station. So I picked up an amazing 2 cents this past weekend. Back to work Monday however paid off with 2 dimes and a nickel just sitting out on the the break room table. Add 1 can to that and one can added on Tuesday brings us back up to date. Interesting day at work, I had this customer in today who can generally be a real PITA, and today was no exception. He must of realize how bad he can be and before he left he threw done a $20.00 spot and said buy yourself some beer. At first I tried to give it back but he insisted so I split it with my co-worker. "ChaChing", $10.00 added to the fund plus 4 cans on the way out tonight.

I have contemplated doing this for awhile now and after seeing this article posted on one of my favorite websites, www.coinflation.com , I have decided to join in on the fray. I actually started doing this back in 2005 but never really kept track of the "found" monies separately until now. At one time my rainy day fund was up to almost $3000.00 but it must of rained allot because that is gone and with the exception of a dog, (Bella), I don't recall what it was spent on. Anyway this blog is to keep track of found money and recycled cans. Here in Massachusetts, cans are worth 5¢ and I'll pick them up when I come across them as I drink enough beer that I go to the redemption center every two weeks or so anyway. So here we go starting from scratch although the fund right now must be close $1000.00 but more about that later. Today's finds are .29 cents. A quarter and 4 pennies all from the local Stop N Shop (Which will now be known as Stop N Rob from here on out) and while taking Bella for her walk this afternoon, I picked up a soda can for a grand total of .34 cents.
